If you haven’t heard about the infamous story behind his birth let me break it down for you. It can also be found in historical scriptures too, Goddess Parvati made Lord Ganesha out of a sandalwood paste she used while bathing. One time she asked Ganesha to guard the door while she bathes allowing no one to enter until she is done bathing. While doing so, Lord Shiva came to meet his wife, but being denied meeting his wife, he got furious and beheaded him.

Upon seeing this whole incident, Parvati got furious and asked Lord Shiva to return her son. Seeing the situation worsen, Shiva asked to bring the head of an animal whose mother had issues with the child. Fulfilling his demand, a baby elephant’s head was finally chosen, finally was placed in Lord Ganesha’s body.
